Many thanks to my colleague Matt Vickers for spotting this news story about growing demand for airline pilots over the next 20 years – Rebecca
An article appeared in HR Grapevine magazine (22/07/2015) under the exciting headline “Airlines must hire 500,000 new pilots in next 20 years“.
In this article they cite research from Boeing that believes public airlines will have to recruit at least 558,000 new pilots in the next 20 years to meet rising demand for air travel.
Furthermore, the same report predicts there will also be a need for an estimated 609,000 new recruits into the maintenance and engineering sectors.
The report believes that the Asia-Pacific region has the highest need for candidates, at 39%, equating to 238,000 new positions.
