Thanks to Nicola for this optimistic summary!
Perhaps you have recently graduated or are due to graduate this year and are in need of some motivation to start the graduate job hunt? Look no further! The outlook for the UK graduate job market is encouraging according to a recent survey by The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS).
AGCAS is the professional body for careers and employability professionals in higher education institutes. The survey was sent to heads of careers services.
Dr Bob Gilworth, AGCAS Director of Research and Knowledge, said:
“Despite some reports of Brexit-related uncertainty, the graduate market remained relatively buoyant in 2016 with more than 70% of HE careers service heads reporting improvements on the previous year.”
Sound good so far? What’s more, this positive aspect is reinforced by 67% of HE careers service heads declaring an increase in the number of graduate opportunities advertised in their institutions, with the top 3 increased occupational sectors being:
- Scientists/Engineers/IT professionals
- Professionals (law, research, architecture, social work, quality, media, PR and advertising)
- Associate professionals (finance, law, business, marketing, HR)
